Historic
Anacostia Block Association (HABA), established in 2006, invites
all Historic Anacostia residents - both new and established - to
join the Association in promoting the welfare of our neighborhood.
Our purpose is simple: To keep Our Neighbors Informed and Involved
in the Happenings of Our Community. By bringing Historic Anacostia
residents together we utilize social networking and collaboration
to help determine the community's needs and problems and seek
solutions and relief. While working towards positive change, HABA
recognizes the importance of our neighborhood's history and is
dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the historic integrity
of Anacostia. We work in harmony with all Ward 8 organizations
and agencies in Washington, DC and provide a forum for exchanging
ideas, information, and opinions, thus improving the quality of
life within and around our community.
HABA also encourages young people to become involved and develop
civic responsibility, so that they may become the effective leaders
of tomorrow.
If you support our mission and would like to become involved,
please let us know. Whether you have new ideas or are interested
in supporting some of our existing initiatives, we welcome and
need your help! In addition to our work, HABA members also know
how to have fun and it is a great way to get to know your neighbors.
Please join us for an upcoming meeting. Meetings are typically
held the second Thursday or Tuesday of each month from 7:00 p.m.
- 8:00 p.m. at the UPO Community Service Center at 1649 Good Hope
Rd.
